Long-term trend and interannual variability of precipitation-use efficiency in Eurasian grasslands

چکیده
Precipitation-use efficiency (PUE) is an important ecosystem indicator of the carbon–water conversion. The trend and interannual variation precipitation-use response to climatic factors provide a theoretical foundation for understanding how Eurasian grasslands adapt climate change. However, long-term trends regulating PUE in at continental scale are still unclear. Here, we integrated Global Inventory Monitoring Modeling System (GIMMS) Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), field surveys aboveground net primary production (ANPP) meteorological datasets during 1982–2015 reveal temporal variations controls grasslands. We found that there was overall uptrend (3 × 10−3 g C m−2 mm−1/10 yr) greatest increasing forest steppe rate 13 yr, while decreasing presented alpine −2.6 yr. showed linearly patterns with precipitation biome scales, it uncorrelated temperature diverse linear increase, concave-down no correlation different biomes. mainly controlled by This result further revealed shaped pattern cascading effects networks (precipitation temperature) − vapor pressure deficit (VPD) – leaf area index (LAI) ANPP (CVLP-CENet). study identified trends, over past three decades, provided crucial insights into grassland ecosystems dynamics

15 صفحه اولInterannual variability in western US precipitation
Low-frequency (interannual or longer period) climatic variability is of interest, because of its significance for the understanding and prediction of protracted climatic anomalies. Since precipitation is one of the key variables driving various hydrologic processes, it is useful to examine precipitation records to better understand long-term climate dynamics. Here, we use the multi-taper method...
متن کاملInterannual variability in net primary production and precipitation.
Primary Production and Precipitation Knapp and Smith (1) suggested that interannual variability in aboveground net primary production (ANPP) is not related to fluctuations in precipitation, based on analysis of data from 11 Long-Term Ecological Research sites across North America. This finding, if applicable to other regions, is crucial to climate change research, because it may necessitate rev...
متن کاملThe Interannual Variability of Tropical Precipitation and Interhemispheric Energy Transport
The interannual variability of the location of the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is strongly (R5 0.75) correlated with the atmospheric heat transport across the equator (AHTEQ) over the satellite era (1979–2009). A 18 northward displacement of the ITCZ is associatedwith 0.34PWof anomalousAHTEQ fromnorth to south. The AHTEQ and precipitation anomalies are both associated with an intensif...
متن کاملDynamics of Interannual Variability in Summer Precipitation over East Asia*
The summertime mei-yu–baiu rainband over East Asia displays considerable interannual variability. A singular value decomposition (SVD) analysis for interannual variability reveals that precipitation anomalies over the mei-yu–baiu region are accompanied by in situ anomalies of midtropospheric horizontal temperature advection. Anomalous warm (cool) advection causes increased (decreased) mei-yu–ba...
